State Senator Steve Bieda presented a special tribute to commemorate the opening of the Student Veterans Lounge at Davenport University’s campus in Warren, Michigan, on Nov. 6.
Ranked by Military Times as among the ‘Best for Vets Colleges,’ Davenport strives to support veteran students and families. DU provides specialized services in admissions and advising through its Military and Veteran Services Office and offers a 20 percent tuition discount for service members, veterans and their families.
Along with funds received via the GI Bill, Federal Tuition Assistance and the Michigan National Guard Tuition Assistance Program, the discount helps ensure that college remains affordable for those who have served their country through military service.
Davenport is a member of both the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve program from the United States Department of Defense and the Council of College and Military Educators. Additionally, Davenport University holds a Gold Level status with the Michigan Veterans Affairs Association and is a GI Bill Yellow Ribbon School.
