Nearly a quarter of the prospective students who met with a Davenport University admissions representative in Fall 2017 were interested in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, according to DU Institutional Research’s pre-appointment survey report.

While it has been the top program of interest for the past five years, demand for the program has steadily increased over the past four years. Other top programs of high interest among prospective students included the practical nursing program and the Master in Business Administration. Other programs related to business, management, human resources and network security also were in high demand.

“The pre-appointment survey report reviews the demographic, behavioral and media characteristics of our prospective students,” said Kathy Aboufadel, Ph.D. “This is important information that is used by our Marketing and Admissions teams to help attract new students. Our academic leadership also uses these survey results to ensure that we are offering the programs that students care about.”

Aboufadel, the Vice President of Institutional Research and Assessment, said DU releases reports in the fall, winter and spring.

Other notable points about prospective students from Fall 2017 include:

• Three-quarters of the prospective students had a high school GPA of 3.0 or above.
• More than 70 percent of the prospective students had already attended college before considering DU.
• Seventy-six percent of the prospective students work.
• Nearly half of the prospective students preferred a mix of online and on-campus classes.
• Location, flexible class scheduling, small class sizes and career-focused courses were the top reasons prospective students considered DU.
• Forty-eight percent of the prospective students had heard about DU from either a friend, relative, former DU student or current DU student.
