Wolfram becomes the first Panther to make a 40-man roster in MLB
The Milwaukee Brewers have agreed to a major league contract with free-agent left-handed pitcher Grant Wolfram.
This contract marks the first time in Wolfram’s career that he’ll be added to a 40-man roster and he also becomes the first Davenport player to make a MLB 40-man roster. He has spent his entire professional career in the Texas Rangers organization, pitching parts of three seasons in Double-A and two in Triple-A.
Wolfram drew interest after a breakthrough season in 2024 with the Rangers’ Triple-A squad in Round Rock. Over 56 2/3 innings, he posted a solid 3.34 ERA while striking out 25.6% of hitters. Wolfram has consistently been able to generate strikeouts, and in recent years, he’s improved his ability to keep the ball on the ground. In 2024, he posted a 44.6% ground-ball rate.
Grant was drafted in the 18th round of the 2017 MLB Draft, and signed with the Rangers for an $85K bonus out of DU. Over the course of his seven-season professional career, he has yet to make it to the major leagues. However, now that he’s been added to the Brewers’ 40-man roster, he’s in line to make his MLB debut in the near future. He will report to spring training in Phoenix, Arizona in February and joins an organization that went 93-69 last season and won the NL Central.
“This is such a great thing for Grant and the Davenport baseball program,” said Davenport head coach Kevin Tidey. “It just proves that you can make it if you work hard and do the right things.”
