Davenport University recently named Anthony Anderson as its new chief financial officer, tasked with upholding the organization’s commitment to helping students become the leaders Michigan’s economy and communities need to elevate and thrive.
Anderson joins Davenport from Toronto, Ontario, with more than 19 years of experience in dynamic and innovative Financial and Process leadership in lean organizations in the US and Canada. Most recently, Anderson led the Finance and Operations organization for Olympus Corporation, a leading Medical Technology company.
“Our Vision 2025 priorities require a strong leadership team and Anthony is a fantastic addition to our organization,” said Dr. Richard J. Pappas, president of Davenport University. “His experience working lean for optimal results will help Davenport as we navigate forward with a greater emphasis on first-generation students, K-12 urban educators and the Latino/a/x community.”
At Olympus Corporation, Anderson served as Executive Director of Finance and Operations, the CFO equivalent, responsible for all finance, accounting, business intelligence, and all areas of operations for the $200M+ Canadian organization. In addition, he played a dual role being responsible for the Analytics and Reporting department for North America, a department supporting a $3 billion business in the United States, Canada, and Latin America.
“My passion for success and continuous improvement is an outstanding fit for the leadership team at Davenport,” said Anderson. “I’m looking forward to helping the university achieve its Vision 2025 goals.”
During Anderson’s time at Olympus Corporation, he received two Global CEO awards and was applauded for leading the company through two major organizational transformations.
Prior to working at Olympus, Anthony spent more than 8 years working in the Oil and Gas industry at Cameron International, a subsidiary of Schlumberger, in progressive finance and accounting responsibilities in Buffalo, New York, and Houston.
Anthony is a graduate of Canisius College, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, and a graduate of the University of Houston – Victoria, with a master’s degree in business administration.
