Leaders from Davenport University and United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM) signed an agreement solidifying their commitment to education and employment development. The agreement provides a scholarship to UWM’s employees and their family members. The signing ceremony was held April 2, 2025, at UWM’s headquarters in Pontiac.
UWM is the largest mortgage lender in the U.S. and has more than 9,000 employees who could take advantage of Davenport’s Gold Education Scholarship. UWM qualifies for the Gold level because it is a Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) Gold-level Veterans-Friendly Employer.
The Gold Education Scholarship offers up to $8,000 per year in scholarships to UWM employees and up to $6,500 per year to their spouses and children to the age of 29. There is also a 20% discount on professional development certificates and certifications through the Institute of Professional Excellence (IPEx).
The goal of the Corporate Education Scholarship Program at Davenport is to create opportunities for Michigan companies to invest in the professional growth of employees, while helping them retain talent.
“Davenport University is committed to creating talent and offering professional development and lifelong learning,” said Davenport President Richard J. Pappas, Ed.D. “We are pleased to partner with the leaders at United Wholesale Mortgage in their desire to invest in their employees’ education and professional development. An educated workforce is critical to the economic future of the state.”
The executive director of IPEx, Daniel Rundhaug, Ph.D., attended the signing ceremony, along with Monica Haider, vice president of Engagement, for UWM.
“At UWM, we firmly believe that the pursuit of continuous improvement is not just a strategy but a cornerstone of our long-term success,” Haider said. “We are dedicated to fostering an environment where growth and advancement are paramount. Davenport University presents a wealth of opportunities for career development, tailored to meet the diverse needs of every student, regardless of what they are learning and how long it takes. Greatness takes patience, something we know to be true at UWM. Whether you are just starting your journey or looking to elevate your career to new heights, there is a pathway for everyone to thrive and excel.”
Davenport University has flexible programs for adult learners to earn degrees or certificates in more than 100 areas. Many courses are offered online, and Davenport offers both 7-week and 15-week semesters.
