Six Davenport University nursing students were recently awarded scholarships from The Hearst Foundations.
The Hearst Foundations Nursing Scholar program awards students in high standing within their junior and senior years who need additional financial assistance to obtain their bachelor’s degree in nursing.
“One student wrote how they ‘hope to become the individual that makes our institution proud; epitomizing all of the values we stand for at Davenport University,’” said Amy Stahley, associate dean of nursing at DU. “This scholarship helps lessen the burden for students who need financial help in order to finish their degrees.”
The Hearst Scholarship Foundation is a national philanthropic resource for organizations working in the fields of culture, education, health and social services.
Students who are facing financial hardships and are in the nursing program can be considered for this scholarship by completing an application. Applicants must maintain a 3.0 GPA, write a personal essay, and be an incoming junior or senior in the BSN-PL program.
