Davenport University’s W.A. Lettinga Grand Rapids Campus was taken over today by its mascot, a dog, bunnies, goats, chickens, ducks and children during its annual Pounce’s Family Fun Day.
It was a beautiful day for the event, which was hosted by the university’s department of Student Life for the children of its faculty, staff and students.
Activities included the Critter Barn traveling petting zoo, face painting, a scavenger hunt, inflatables, a bubble station, a kid-friendly lunch, the chance to hang out with Davenport’s mascot, Pounce, and therapy dog, Onyx.

Laura Ayotte, marketing director, said this event is one her children look forward to every year. “The Critter Barn, air hockey and scavenger hunt were some of the highlights. I’m so thankful that Davenport offers a day for employees to show their kiddos the campus and the work that we do,” she said.
Connie Valkema, project manager, said her kids were very excited for Pounce’s Family Fun Day. “My kids enjoyed all of the activities, but especially loved the petting zoo and making monster-sized bubbles with the bubble wands. They also spent a long time playing air hockey in the Student Activity Center,” she said.
