Staying engaged at Davenport University is essential for students to succeed. Resources such as the Center for Learning and Engagement, registered student organizations, athletics and on-campus employment opportunities help students engage socially, academically and professionally.
Here are a few tips for students to make the most of their time at Davenport:
STAY INVOLVED
Activities on campus
Davenport provides a variety of fun extracurricular activities to enhance the college experience. One example is “30 Thursdays,” which are fun on and off-campus activities every Thursday, all semester long. Activities have included a zombie run, snowboarding, pie-eating contest, fun-themed events, and more. Check out the Campus Life Events Calendar for a complete list of events you won’t want to miss.
Center for Learning and Engagement
The Center for Learning and Engagement (CLE) on the W.A. Lettinga Grand Rapids Campus is a great student resource. Many students spend time in the CLE working on group projects, finishing homework assignments, or spending time with friends between classes. A computer lab, printers and testing center are also located here. The CLE is also used for campus events, like career fairs and educational presentations. It even hosts evening events like NFL watch parties and stress-buster activities during exam week.
Student organizations
One of the ways Davenport engages students outside of the classroom is by offering more than 40 student organizations. Students can choose from a long list of social, recreational, academic, professional and service organizations to become involved with.
These organizations range from the Business Professionals of America to Barbell Babes, a community of women who focus on their physical health in a supportive environment.
Athletics
Athletics is a big part of the culture at Davenport. With 21 NCAA Division II athletic teams to choose from, there is always a great sporting event to attend.
