Changes include upgraded computer labs, collaboration spaces, and additional classrooms

Davenport University’s Warren and Detroit campuses, two of Davenport’s eight campuses across the state, are undergoing major transformations.

Beginning this spring, Davenport is revamping its Warren Campus to house additional classrooms, two science and two nursing labs, two computer classrooms plus a ‘flex’ computer lab, and all faculty and staff offices. The campus also features collaborative spaces, student-controlled meeting rooms, and upgraded WiFi services.

“Our Warren campus offers a wide variety of degree options including nursing, business, and urban education to both full- and part-time students, many of whom are already in the workforce,” said Dr. Richard J. Pappas, president of Davenport University. “These renovations are designed to cater to each program’s unique student needs and improve the overall campus experience.”

The campus, located at 27650 Dequindre Road in Warren, Mich., was established in 1989. Once renovations are complete, its footprint will be approximately 27,000 square feet. The architectural firm Integrated Architecture, headquartered in Grand Rapids, developed the design. The project will kick off in June and is expected to be complete by the fall.

Davenport is also in the process of renovating its downtown Detroit campus, which suffered damage after a major flood in New Center One in June 2021. It continues to operate from a temporary location within the New Center One building but plans to reopen its doors in July. The newly refurbished campus will host several courses spanning business, technology, health, and urban education. The campus is located at 3031 W. Grand Blvd in the New Center One building.

In addition to traditional in-person classes, both campuses will continue to offer online, real-time virtual and blended.  The university has put together a video showcasing the newly redesigned Warren campus.
