Davenport: Educating Across Three Centuries, co-authored by Margaret (Peggy) Moceri and former DU Provost Thomas Brown, Ph.D., recently earned national distinction at the 11th Annual National Indie Excellence® Awards, winning the Coffee Table Book category. This awards competition for independent book publishers was judged by industry experts, including publishers, writers, editors, book cover designers and professional copywriters.
“We are proud to announce the winners and finalists whose books truly embody the excellence that this award was created to celebrate, and we salute you all for your fine work,” stated Ellen Reid, founder of the National Indie Excellence® Awards. Winners and finalists were determined based on “overall excellence of presentation” and “a synergy of form and content” in a wide range of genres.
“For the book to earn such a prestigious national award is great recognition for the years of research and care that went into its creation,” stated Moceri, the granddaughter of the school’s namesake, M.E. Davenport, and daughter of former President Robert W. Sneden. “My deepest appreciation goes to the many contributors to this wonderful book and to the many more who have helped create such a tremendous university over the past 151 years.”
Davenport: Educating Across Three Centuries also was a Finalist in the 2016 Foreward INDIES book awards honoring the best books from independent publishers. To view all 11th Annual NIEA winners and finalists, please click here. To purchase the Davenport history book, please click here.
