Two alums from the 2016 Warren Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) programs received The Daisy Award from the Daisy Foundation. Given to extraordinary nurses, the Daisy Award was created in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from an auto-immune disease. They deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick by the nurses. After his death, they felt compelled to say “Thank You” in a very public way, thus the Daisy Award was created. Through this and other other recognition programs, the Daisy Foundation honors the super-human work nurses do for patients and families every day. Now found in more than 2,600 healthcare facilities in all 50 states and 14 countries, the strategic impact of the program on nurses is substantial – affecting job satisfaction, retention, teamwork, pride, organizational culture, healthy work environment, and more.
Michelle High, BSN, RN – Daisy Award Winner – Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital. Michelle was given The Daisy Award for care she provided to a 47-year old hospitalized patient.
Yolanda Dodson, LPN – Daisy Award Winner – HealthCall – Yolanda was given this award for providing extraordinary care to a two-year old and his family.
The Warren Faculty and Nursing Leadership are very proud of our graduates and the care they provide their patients. Alumni like these individuals make Davenport University standout within our communities.
