Davenport University adjunct faculty member Daniel Parrell, Ph.D., is bringing cutting-edge controller-free gaming technology to the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas that runs through January 9.
Parrell serves as an instructor in Davenport’s College of Technology, where he teaches courses in software development and game-related topics, sharing real-world industry experience with students. According to his Big Games Company biography, Parrell has been involved in software development since the 1980s and has worked with major organizations such as the IRS, NASA, Chrysler, Ford Motor Company, and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
At CES 2026, one of the world’s premier technology showcases, Parrell and his team from Big Games Company are exhibiting a controller-free mixed-reality gaming device that invites users to play immersive games without the need for traditional controllers. According to the company’s website, visitors can “play mixed reality games with no controllers,” signaling a novel advance in interactive entertainment technology.
At the company’s booth in the Las Vegas Convention Center, attendees can experience the technology firsthand and speak with Parrell and his team about the design, development, and future direction of the product.
Parrell’s work and the national exposure at CES continues Davenport University’s mission of providing students with real-world experience and industry-relevant instruction. As an adjunct professor, Parrell bridges academic learning with professional practice, offering students insights into software development, game design and entrepreneurship. His involvement in CES enhances the visibility of Davenport University’s programs and serves as an inspiration for students pursuing careers in technology and gaming.
