Davenport University teamed up with Hanger Clinic West Michigan and Corewell Health on Saturday to host an adaptive sports event on its W.A. Lettinga Grand Rapids Campus.
The inaugural event provided people with limb loss, limb difference and other physical disabilities with an opportunity to try new sporting activities in a relaxed and non-competitive atmosphere.
The event was open to all ages and experience levels and offered climbing, seated volleyball, golf, tennis, boccia, cornhole and more.
“We were thrilled to host the inaugural Hanger Clinic Field Day and hope it becomes an annual tradition,” said Jason Kolean, Davenport’s assistant director of athletics for sports medicine.
The Hanger Clinic drew participants from the greater Grand Rapids area and from as far away as Indiana and was staffed by numerous Davenport coaches, staff and the women’s volleyball team.
