Davenport University and Hurley Medical Center have launched a corporate partner scholarship program designed to expand educational opportunities while supporting workforce development in the health care industry.
Through the partnership, Hurley Medical Center employees are eligible for up to $7,000 annually toward tuition at Davenport University. Employees also qualify for a 20% discount on professional development workshops, certificate programs and other non-credit training opportunities through Davenport’s Institute for Professional Excellence (IPEx).
Hurley Medical Center was founded in 1908 to serve the people of Flint and Genesee County and continues with its mission to bring highly educated medical staff, innovation and leading-edge technology to the area.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to helping working adults advance their careers through affordable, flexible and career-focused educational opportunities.
“We are pleased to partner with Hurley Medical Center to help employees pursue higher education and professional growth,” said Davenport University Interim President Anthony W. Anderson. “Health care organizations rely on skilled, adaptable professionals, and this partnership helps remove barriers to pursuing additional education, while strengthening the workforce and supporting long-term career advancement.”
The scholarship program can be applied to most undergraduate and graduate degree programs, as well as professional training and industry-recognized certifications. Davenport offers more than 100 degree and certificate programs, with many courses available online and in flexible 7-week and 15-week formats designed for working adults.
Hurley employees can also benefit from Davenport’s Credit for Prior Learning program, which allows students to earn college credit for previous work experience, military service, on-the-job training and other professional accomplishments.
