Davenport University and Gentex leaders formalized their commitment to education and workforce development with a signing ceremony Sept. 30 at the corporation’s office in Zeeland. The agreement provides scholarships to Gentex employees and their family members.
The goal of Davenport’s Corporate Education Scholarship Program is to allow organizations to invest in their employees’ growth and retain talent.
“Davenport University is committed to improving access to a college degree and lifelong learning,” said Davenport University President Richard J. Pappas, Ed.D. “We are proud to partner with Gentex to offer an exclusive corporate partner scholarship so more employees can continue their education and advance their careers with an innovative company with leaders who believe in investing in their people.”
The corporate scholarship program at Davenport provides scholarship savings to Gentex employees and their immediate family members. These scholarships are renewable for up to four years. The university will also bring admissions functions right to Gentex employees for ease of applying and enrolling in the program of their choice.
“This program with Davenport University helps break down the financial barrier to continuing education,” said Steve Downing, Gentex President and CEO. “Employees can use the upfront scholarship money along with our tuition reimbursement program to reduce the cost of earning a degree and increase their upward mobility within the company. It’s also a wonderful employee benefit to reduce the financial cost of higher education for their family members as well.”
Davenport University has flexible programs for adult learners to earn advanced degrees or certificates in more than 80 areas. Classes can be taken online or in the evening, and Davenport offers both 7-week and 15-week semesters.
Gentex employees and family members also receive 20% off all publicly offered professional development programs through the university’s Institute for Professional Excellence (IPEx).
