Over a high-stakes weekend at Ferris State University on February 14th and 15th, Davenport University Esports solidified its status as a regional powerhouse, capturing its third consecutive GLIAC Esports Championship. The Panthers arrived in Big Rapids with a target on their backs and left with the trophy, proving that sustained excellence is the program’s new standard.
Davenport’s path to the overall title was paved with podium finishes across every game title, showcasing the depth of talent within the program.
Rocket League: 1st Place
The Panthers took to the pitch with clinical precision, dominating the tournament with 10 wins and zero losses and outscoring opponents 49 – 7 overall. This is the 3rd year in a row which DU RL has taken 1st place.
Valorant: 1st Place
In a display of tactical brilliance and superior aim, the Valorant squad completed their streak of winning the GLIAC Valorant tournament with a thriller comeback against Roosevelt University.
League of Legends: 2nd Place
The LoL team fought through a grueling bracket, ultimately taking home a silver medal in a hard-fought championship series against Roosevelt.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: 3rd Place
Rounding out the scoring, the Smash team provided crucial points with a strong bronze finish falling to GVSU in the lower bracket finals.
The Panthers dominated the overall standings with 60 points to secure the tournament victory, while second place MTU had 34. GVSU and RU tied for 3rd with 32 points respectively. The victory not only adds another banner to the rafters, but also cements Davenport’s reputation as a premier destination for collegiate esports athletes in the Midwest.
