A statement from President Pappas on tragic event at MSU

Davenport community,

We were incredibly sad to learn of the shooting at Michigan State University Campus last night. We have decided to close our Lansing campus today and this evening. While the danger has passed, the idea that another mass shooting has occurred, and this one so close to home, is frightening.

Whether you have a friend or loved one who attends MSU or, like so many, are just saddened by this senseless act of violence – I encourage you to take care of yourself. These types of events can have a significant impact on our mental health.

Our Wellness Center is open and available to you virtually or in person on the W.A. Lettinga Campus and we have a 24-hour support line that you can use at your convenience at 616.340.5243.

We will continue to do everything in our power to protect our staff and students. Our thoughts and prayers are with the affected families, the MSU family, and the Lansing community.

Sincerely,

Dr-Pappas-Signature
