Davenport University is recognized as a Veteran-Friendly School by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA). The university is honored at the Gold level, which is the highest level of recognition. The agency started the Veteran-Friendly Schools (VFS) program to honor universities, colleges and trade schools for their “unwavering dedication to improving experiences for military-connected learners and to foster innovation in support of veterans.”

Davenport has been honoring veterans, their service and their experience for more than 150 years. The university offers a comprehensive set of support services for veterans that acknowledges their real-life experience.

“This recognition by the state’s Veterans Affairs Agency is special to the university and its mission,” said Davenport University President Richard J. Pappas, Ed.D. “We honor veterans’ service, and we also turn their experience into college credit where we can. We have a team of dedicated staff to support veterans from admissions through graduation.”

There is a 20% discount on tuition for veterans and their families at Davenport. There is a Student Veterans of America chapter and a lounge dedicated to veterans.

Brian L. Love, director of the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, said in a release that the institutions are being recognized for their exemplary commitment to supporting and empowering military-connected students.

“Their dedication and efforts play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for veterans and service members, and we are grateful for their ongoing support,” Love said.
