The Davenport community recently joined President Dr. Richard J. Pappas for the third annual State of the University address at the Donald W. Main College of Business.
In this address, Dr. Pappas gave an update on key initiatives, the progress made toward achieving Vision 2025, and the challenges facing the university. Dr. Pappas opened his remarks by saying that Davenport had a tremendous start to the school year and that the energy on our campuses and in our classrooms is contagious.
He shared that the university has a lot to be proud of, including:
- New scholarship offerings.
- New nursing degree pathways
- Its success in building a diverse talent pool to help our communities and businesses thrive.
- Winning athletic programs and talented athletes, on and off the field.
He also gave an overview of Davenport’s key initiatives, including:
- First-generation
- Urban Education
- Launch of Casa Latina
- Mental health initiatives
- Wellness Center
- Global Campus: Online+
We also heard from several key faculty and staff, including Carlos Sanchez, Executive Director of Casa Latina; Dr. Brian Miller, Dean of the Global Campus; Darren Oliver, lead counselor of Devon parts Wellness Center; as well as several of Davenport’s incredibly talented students.
