Leaders from Davenport University and The Employers’ Association (TEA) formalized their commitment to higher education and professional development with a signing ceremony held May 6, 2026, at TEA’s offices in Grand Rapids. The agreement provides scholarship opportunities for employees of the not-for-profit association that provides human resource solutions to local employers, some with a global reach. There are benefits for employees’ family members as well.
The Corporate Partner Scholarship Program at Davenport offers up to $8,000 per year in scholarships to TEA employees and up to $6,500 per year to their spouses and children to the age of 29. There is also a 20% discount on professional development certificates and certifications through the Institute of Professional Excellence (IPEx).
Davenport University President, Richard J. Pappas, Ed.D., and Nick Kacher, president of TEA, signed the corporate partnership agreement, which creates opportunities for companies to invest in their employees and their families.
“We recognize that continuous learning plays a critical role in developing a resilient and future-ready workforce,” said Pappas. “We are pleased to collaborate with TEA to advance the education and career growth of its employees. By extending these opportunities to employees’ families, this partnership reduces obstacles to education and promotes lasting workforce strength.”
Kacher reinforced TEA’s commitment to growth and development. “We’re dedicated to creating meaningful opportunities for our members and their families to build new skills and broaden their expertise. The partnership with Davenport represents a continued investment in our members in support of our mission of empowering employers to build better workplaces across West Michigan.”
Davenport University has flexible programs for adult learners to earn degrees or certificates in more than 100 areas. Many courses are offered online, and Davenport offers both 7-week and 15-week semesters.
