Davenport University is hosting a virtual financial aid workshop for Lansing-area residents on Thursday, March 26, titled Making College Affordable: How to Pay for College 101.

There are two sessions. The public is invited to attend either or both of the workshops on March 26: the first at noon and the second at 5 p.m.

“One of the most significant hurdles students face when considering college is affordability,” said Susan Porrett, Davenport executive campus director, Lansing. “We welcome potential and current students of all ages looking to learn more about their options.”

Beyond federal financial aid for college, each year Davenport University awards more than $30 million in Davenport and Davenport Foundation scholarships. Ninety-three percent of Davenport students receive a scholarship or gift aid that, unlike student loans, does not have to be repaid.

During the session, Davenport’s financial aid advisors will cover:

• Where to start
• How to find free college money 
• How to locate scholarships and grants 
• Alternative ways to pay for college

They will also discuss the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The workshop is open to the public, whether you’re a current or prospective Davenport University student, a parent, or simply someone looking for information about paying for college.
