Due to hazardous weather conditions and extreme temperatures in Kent County, the committee organizing the 39th Annual MLK Commemoration in downtown Grand Rapids January 20, 2025, has canceled the event. The intention is to reschedule keynote speaker LaTosha Brown and the events honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during February, which is Black History Month. This postponement includes the conversation with Brown that was scheduled on the W.A. Lettinga Grand Rapids Campus January 21, as well as the Silent March through campus.
