Davenport University and Hope Network establish education partnership

Leaders from Davenport University and Hope Network signed an agreement representing the organizations joint commitment to education and human potential. The signing event took place April 24, 2025, at the Hope Network corporate offices in Grand Rapids. The agreement provides scholarships to Hope Network employees and their family members.

Hope Network is a leading statewide non-profit organization that provides health care and social services to more than 30,000 people in more than 125 Michigan communities annually. It has nearly 3,000 employees who could take advantage of the scholarships, which offer up to $8,000 per year to employees and up to $6,500 per year to spouses and children to the age of 29.

“It is a pleasure to partner with an organization that cares about its employees as Hope Network does,” said Davenport President Richard J. Pappas, Ed.D. “Davenport is a leader in closing the talent gap and providing opportunities for employees in the marketplace. We look forward to a strong partnership with Hope Network.”

Pappas was joined at the signing ceremony by Executive Director of Davenport’s Institute of Professional Excellence (IPEx) Daniel Rundhaug, Ph.D. and Hope Network President & CEO Bob Von Kaenel and Chief People Officer Kim Dorer.

The goal of Davenport’s Corporate Education Scholarship Program is to create opportunities for companies to invest in the professional growth and development of employees, which in turn helps them retain talent.

“We take pride in offering our employees relevant and meaningful experiences to grow in their careers,” Von Kaenel said. “This education partnership with Davenport provides an incredible opportunity for our team and their families.”

Hope Network employees and their family members who take part in the scholarship program at Davenport will be able to choose from flexible programs for learners to earn degrees or certificates in more than 100 areas. Many courses are offered online, and Davenport offers 7-week and 15-week semesters.
