Davenport University appointed the founder and CEO of BAMF Health, Dr. Anthony Chang, to its Board of Trustees. Chang participated in his first board meeting December 13, 2023, at the university’s W.A. Lettinga Grand Rapids Campus.

Chang was an accomplished scientific leader and educator prior to the founding of BAMF Health in 2022. BAMF is an acronym for “Bold Advanced Medical Future” and is located in the Doug Meijer Medical Innovation Building in Grand Rapids. BAMF positions itself as revolutionizing healthcare, making Michigan the global destination for healthcare.

Davenport University President Richard J. Pappas said Chang’s appointment as a university trustee is a great move for the university’s future.

“Dr. Chang is an impressive individual with an innovative mind and the ability to bring vision into reality,” said Pappas. “Davenport has always been at the forefront of positive change, anticipating the needs of the future, and his background and experience as a tech leader in healthcare is vital as we pursue the possibilities of AI and the needs of our students who will have careers in fields we can’t yet imagine. We’re excited for Anthony to join the board and for what’s ahead.”

Chang received his Ph.D. in Medical Physics with a specialization in Diagnostic Imaging Physics from the University of Texas Health Science Center, following graduate studies at Yale University and Vanderbilt University, and after earning an undergraduate degree from Chang Gung university Taiwan.

Chang is an adjunct faculty member at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and serves on the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce West Michigan CEO Council. He said joining the board at Davenport at this point in the university’s history is the right next move for him.

“In our rapidly evolving world, an innovative and agile education system is critical for cultivating the talent necessary to navigate the complexities of the future,” said Chang. “It is my great pleasure to serve the entire Davenport University community alongside esteemed board members. Together, we aim to embrace the transformative power of education and enable DU students to help create our shared future.”
