As we enter into a new year, let’s get to know a few of our freshmen who just wrapped up their first semester of college.
Telee Kobylinski
Major: Nursing
Hometown: Rockford, Michigan
Essential item: Stuffed dinosaur
Free time: Reading an interesting book while hammocking
Why they chose DU: “It was small and close to home and that made my family and I feel safe.”
Most looking forward to this year: “Building new relationships with people on campus and within my classes.”
What they will miss the most being away from home: “My extra-comfy bed.”
Otto Goebel
Student-athlete, swimming
Major: Business
Hometown: Lake Geneva, Michigan
Essential item: Overstuffed animal
Free time: Enjoys working out with the swim team, longboarding, and any activity on the water — especially kayaking
Why they chose DU: “I was from a small town, and I really liked the size of Davenport and how friendly everyone is.”
Most looking forward to this year: “Forming bonds with the other students and learning to be an adult.”
What they will miss the most being away from home: “Friends. I developed an incredible bond with them last summer and I am going to miss them a lot.”
Kumiko Yamaguchi
Student-athlete, tennis
Major: Business administration
Hometown: Nagoya, Japan
Essential item: Ramen from home
Free time: Enjoys listening to K-pop and watching Netflix
Why they chose DU: “I wanted to go to a small-medium size college in the east with a strong business program.”
Most looking forward to this year: “Playing tennis matches against other schools.”
What they will miss the most being away from home: “The Japanese food my mother makes.”
