Dr. Regina Pierce to Retire

Regina Pierce, Ph.D., Campus Associate Department Chair for Allied Health at the Warren Campus, will retire this Friday, March 10, ending a 14-year career at Davenport. Beginning as a Department Coordinator for Math at the Dearborn Campus, Regina has served in a number of roles throughout the years, including Director of Academic Services and Livonia Campus Leader.

Known as a “Course Champion” for Allied Health HCMG programs, Regina has been instrumental in shaping Davenport’s healthcare management’s healthcare organization and law & ethics courses. In a presidential nod to her expertise, in 2013 Regina was among an exclusive group of nearly 80 leading nurses invited to the White House to discuss ways of improving quality and care for patients as it related to healthcare policy, now known as the Affordable Care Act. Regina represented Davenport and the National Arab American Association, of which she is a member of the Board of Directors.

Regina earned her associate degree in nursing from Wayne County Community College and went on to earn her bachelor and graduate degrees in Community Health Education and her Doctorate in Education, Evaluation and Research from Wayne State University. She will continue in her role as an adjunct faculty member. Regina and her husband are looking forward to traveling more, re-learning the game of golf, and are scheduled to depart on a cruise to Cuba later this month.
